Arrive in Accra and orient yourself to the energy that is this dynamic city! You'll get a crash course in bargaining (African print anyone?) at Makola's open air market before we visit the WEB Du Bois museum, Independence Square all while making sure to enjoy each evenings vibrant nightlife!
We'll head to the sleepy mountain town of ACC Tours Founder and spend a day admiring our serene surroundings and visiting a fertility waterfall and in the evening - around a bonfire in a call and response storytelling by a chief linguist.
We'll enjoy Kumasi (heart of the Asante Kingdom) with tours of Manhyia Palace (home of the Asante King) and traditional villages to see famed Kente cloth weavers and woods carvers in action. You'll learn about Yaa Asantewaa - famed female warrior - who stood up against the British colonialists when they had captured the Asante King.
We'll visit Ancestral River and take a haunting walk to its banks to commemorate those who came before us and receive a traditional Akan naming ceremony on its banks. We'll also tour the Slave Dungeons of Cape Coast and walk its historic beach.
